Liverpool release biography honouring late Diogo Jota

Liverpool Football Club has released a new biography celebrating the life and legacy of late Portuguese forward Diogo Jota, with proceeds supporting a grassroots football programme in his honour.

In a post from the club’s X handle, the Diogo Jota biography, titled Forever in Our Hearts, was released on Thursday, October 22, 2026, and written by Portuguese author and former professional footballer José Delgado.

Published by Reach Sport, the book chronicles Jota’s journey from his early years in Portugal to becoming one of Liverpool’s most admired players.

The biography features personal accounts from more than 90 people, including his wife, Rute, his parents, Isabel and Joaquim, and former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp.

Their contributions provide insight into Jota’s footballing career, humility, determination and relationships with those closest to him.

Liverpool biography celebrates Jota’s football legacy

The book highlights Jota’s achievements, including winning the Premier League with Liverpool and the UEFA Nations League with Portugal.

It also explores his close relationship with his brother, André Silva, and the impact both men had on their families and the football community.

Jota and André died in a road accident in Spain in July 2025, shortly after the footballer’s marriage to his childhood sweetheart, Rute.

Their deaths prompted widespread tributes from teammates, supporters and football organisations worldwide.

Speaking about the project, Delgado explained that the biography was intended to preserve Jota’s memory and celebrate his life.

“My commitment throughout was to tell his story with care, honesty and respect for Diogo, André, and the family and friends who loved them,” he said.

The author expressed appreciation to the family members, friends and football personalities who contributed their memories to the project.

He also highlighted Jota’s special relationship with Liverpool, noting that those interviewed consistently praised his character and commitment alongside his footballing ability.

Book proceeds to support grassroots football

Liverpool confirmed that all profits received by the club from the biography would support a grassroots football programme established in Jota’s name through the LFC Foundation.

The initiative aims to create opportunities for young people to participate in football while preserving the late forward’s legacy.

The book is available through Liverpool’s official stores and online platforms.

The release follows the unveiling of a permanent memorial outside Anfield earlier in 2026, honouring Jota and his brother André.

The memorial provides supporters with a dedicated space to remember the brothers and reflect on their contributions to football.

Through the biography and grassroots initiative, Liverpool hopes to ensure Jota’s influence continues beyond his achievements on the pitch.
