The murder of a motorcycle rider led to unrest in the Ipaja area of Lagos State on Monday as colleagues protested the killing.
The PUNCH reported that the protest led to a clash between the motorcycle rider and some persons linked to the death.
According to reports, the yet-to-be-identified victim was stabbed during a fight in the area on Saturday and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died on Monday as a result of the injuries sustained in the clash.
A clash was said to have ensued at the news of his death as mourners clash with some people suspected to be involved in his death.
The clash created tension in the area, forcing the police to deploy its operative to restore normalcy.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said that the suspected killer has been arrested.
He said, “The fight is among Okada riders and the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, has deployed RRS patrol vehicles in that place to complement the efforts of the Ayobo Divisional Police Officer.
“There was a street fight two days ago and somebody was stabbed and taken to a hospital.
“He died this morning (Monday) and that was what caused the fight.
“The person who killed the victim has been arrested and normalcy has been restored in the area.”
Hundeyin added that an investigation has commenced into the incident.
