Anambra poll: IGP removes Head of Security arrangement
The Inspector General of Police of the Nigeria Police Force Usman Alkali Baba has removed the Deputy Inspector General, Joseph Egbunike as the head of the team of the upcoming Anambra State Governorship election on Saturday.
According to a report by Politics Nigeria, no reason was given by authorities for Egbunike’s removal.
He is an indigene of Anambra State.
Acting Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Zaki Ahmed, has been named as DIG Egbunike’s replacement.
The Public Relations Officer attached to the Anambra Election Monitoring Team, DSP Nkeiruka Nwode, while announcing the sudden change of baton said the development would not affect the conduct of the Anambra 2021 governorship election.
The question of who succeeds Willie Obiano as governor hovers.
Obiano is term-limited and cannot seek re-election for a third consecutive term.
