Highway officer crushed by hit-and-run driver
An officer in the New York Police Department was, on Tuesday morning, killed by a hit-and-run car on the Long Island Expressway in Queens.
The highway officer was said to be investigating a previous accident in Fresh Meadows at about 2.00 am when he was hit by a sedan.
The New York Post disclosed that the car drove off immediately after the incident.
Fortunately, the police were able to trail the vehicle about 10 minutes away and arrested the female driver.
The NYP department noted that the driver was intoxicated and driving with a suspended license when she crushed the officer.
Meanwhile, the injured officer who was in critical condition after the accident was said to be rushed to New York-Presbyterian Queens where he later died.
