Senate decries FG poor handling of coronavirus outbreak
The Senate on Tuesday lamented the poor handling of the outbreak of COVID 19 by relevant federal government agencies.
The upper chamber stated this following a point of order raised by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Health, Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe.
Oloriegbe had raised the alarm that relevant government agencies have been taking the issue with levity.
The Senate President agreed with Oloriegbe. He noted with concern that there are no testing centres in the entire northern and eastern part of Nigeria
He said the two centres in Lagos and Port Harcourt are not enough to cover the entire country.
He also faulted the poor screening of travellers coming to Nigeria from affected countries particularly Asia and Europe.
Lawan warned the Federal Government against taking its luck too far in view of the fact that the pandemic hasn’t claimed any life in the country.
He also urged Nigerians to take personal hygiene seriously to avoid the outbreak of the disease.
