33-year-old man remanded for defiling 12-year-old girl
A Family Court sitting in Benin, on Wednesday ordered the remand of 33-year-old Isaac Ugbogun, for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl.
Isaac, however, pleaded not guilty to the one count charge of defilement.
The Magistrate, Mrs D.I Adamaigbo, who ordered the remand of the defendant, adjourned the case until April 3, for hearing.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Thomas Ojo, told the court that the offence was committed on Feb. 3, at No 11 Onaiwu Street, Owina, Uzebu Quarters, Benin.
Ojo said the offence is punishable under Section 218 of the Criminal Code Cap 48 II, Laws of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria, now applicable to Edo State.
The victim, who was present in court, gave her testimony in camera.
