Ortom’s ex-CoS’ wife, maid regain freedom
The wife of Mr. Terwase Orbunde, former Chief of Staff to former Governor Samuel Ortom, Mrs. Abigail Orbunde, and her maid, Patience Ogute, have been freed from captivity.
Last Friday, armed men suspected to be herders attacked Mr. Orbunde, his wife, and maid at his farm along Mobile Barracks-Welfare Quarters Road on the outskirts of Makurdi.
The assailants shot the former Chief of Staff in the arm and abducted his wife and maid. Subsequently, a demand for N100 million ransom was made for their release.
The news of their release was shared in a statement on the verified social media handle of a close associate of the family, Mr. Tahav Agerzua.
According to Mr. Agerzua’s statement: “Mrs. Orbunde and her maid regained their freedom on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, after an undisclosed amount was paid as ransom to their abductors, who had demanded N100 million.”
He further revealed that the captives spent four distressing days in captivity before being released. They have since been reunited with some family members and taken to the hospital for immediate medical attention.
Mrs. Orbunde expressed her gratitude to God for their deliverance, mentioning the hardships they endured during their time in captivity.
Her husband, who is currently receiving treatment in the hospital for gunshot wounds, also expressed his gratitude to God and all those who supported the family through prayers and financial contributions that facilitated their release.
