Nigerian doctor in UK loses license for sexual misconduct

Published

A United Kingdom-based Nigerian doctor, Dr. Oluwafemi Tijion Esho, has had his medical licenses revoked after being found guilty of engaging in inappropriate conduct, including offering free Botox injections in exchange for sex.

Dr. Esho, known for his expertise in cosmetic surgery and appearances on popular television programs such as ITV’s This Morning and BBC’s Morning Live, admitted to an improper emotional relationship with a woman referred to as Patient A.

During a hearing before the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service, Dr. Esho confessed to exchanging “inappropriate” sexual messages with Patient A on Instagram. However, he denied engaging in physical sexual contact with her.

The tribunal ruled that Dr. Esho had indeed engaged in sexual intercourse with Patient A at his clinic in Newcastle upon Tyne in 2021 and had administered Botox injections to her free of charge. Additionally, inappropriate behavior, such as making improper comments and allowing Patient A to masturbate him, was established.

As a result of his misconduct, the tribunal found Dr. Esho’s fitness to practice as a doctor impaired and ordered the removal of his name from the medical register.

Among the evidence presented were “inappropriate” Instagram messages exchanged between Dr. Esho and Patient A, including suggestive remarks and discussions about sexual activities.

While Botox injections are commonly used for cosmetic purposes to reduce wrinkles, they can also be utilized for medical conditions like migraines and hyperhidrosis.

The reasons for imposing the sanction will be released by the tribunal in the following week.
