Yobe govt pays 2024 WAEC/NECO exam fees for 18,623 students

The Yobe State government has settled the examination fees for all 18,623 students scheduled to sit for the 2024 West African Examination Council, National Examinations Council, and National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies examinations.

The commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Mohammed Sani Idriss, made this announcement while distributing food supplies to principals of Senior Secondary Schools as part of an extension program initiated by the government.

The program aims to prepare SSS3 students for success in both national and West African examinations.

Idriss emphasized the importance of covering the fees before the exams begin, ensuring that students receive their results promptly after completing the exams.

He highlighted the government’s commitment to providing quality education by assuming the financial burden of examination registration fees.

“I want to tell you that it is only in Yobe State that the government is shouldering the responsibility of the payment of WAEC, NECO, and NBAIS fees,”

Idriss stated. “Completely, the 18,623 students have all their payment for the registration of their examinations settled by the Yobe State government.”

He further praised the Yobe State government’s dedication to providing accessible education, describing it as a unique initiative that prioritizes the welfare of its citizens.

In addition to covering examination fees, Dr. Idriss urged school principals and staff to work diligently to ensure that students achieve excellent results.

He emphasized the importance of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s vision for education and encouraged educators to contribute to the realization of this vision.

Responding to the government’s support, the principals expressed their gratitude for the settlement of examination fees.

They expressed confidence that with the approval of funds for the extension program for SSS3 students, the students would achieve the desired results, paving the way for a brighter future.
