#OsunDecide2026: APC secretary praises INEC, security after voting

National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Ajibola Basiru, has praised the conduct of the Osun election after casting his ballot in Osogbo on Saturday.

According to Vanguard, Basiru and his wife, Abibat, voted at Ward 7, Unit 3, in Osogbo Local Government Area at about 8:45am. This was shortly after voting began.

Speaking with journalists after casting his ballot, the APC chieftain commended the Independent National Electoral Commission. He praised them for deploying election materials and personnel to polling centres on time.

He also praised the turnout of voters. He said the number of residents participating in the exercise showed their commitment to the democratic process.

Basiru assesses Osun election

Basiru commended security agencies for maintaining order at polling units. He said their presence had helped create a peaceful environment for voters.

He described the voting process at his polling unit as calm and hitch-free. In addition, he expressed hope that the exercise would remain free, fair and credible across the state.

The APC National Secretary also expressed confidence in his party’s chances. He said he expected it to emerge victorious when the results were announced.

Voting continued across different parts of Osun State on Saturday amid security presence. Reports said there was strong voter turnout at several polling centres.
