The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, has expressed confidence that he will emerge victorious. He was referring to the ongoing Osun State governorship election.
According to Vanguard, Oyebamiji spoke after casting his ballot at Ward 9, Polling Unit 011, in Ikire. This is in Irewole Local Government Area of the state.
The APC candidate praised the turnout of voters in Ikire. He said the large number of residents who came out to participate showed that they were not intimidated.
“INEC officials are here, the voters are here, security operatives are here. I want to commend the large turnout of voters in Ikire. It shows that people are not intimidated, and generally, things are going on fine across the state,” he said.
Oyebamiji urges security agencies to stay alert
Addressing concerns about possible violence in Ikire, Oyebamiji urged the police and other security agencies to remain proactive. He also asked them to ensure voters are adequately protected throughout the exercise.
“I want to admonish the police and other security operatives to be proactive to ensure security for our people and all the voters, and I believe the election would be credible,” he said.
He also reacted to reports of the arrest of a politician, saying he expected the police to discharge their responsibilities professionally.
“I want to be sure that the police would do their job. I am confident that I’d win this election at the end of the day,” Oyebamiji said.
Voting is ongoing across Osun State as residents choose the next governor in the off-cycle election.
