Popular Nigerian rapper Jude Abaga, known as M.I, has said he regrets supporting the All Progressives Congress during the 2015 elections.

Speaking on the Menism podcast, M.I explained that he supported the APC because he believed the then ruling party, PDP, was corrupt. But years later, he now feels the APC failed to live up to the promises that won his support.

“I tweeted about the thing that happened in Benue and a lot of people were saying, ‘But M.I, you supported the APC,’” he said. “Yes, I supported APC because at that time, I felt that the PDP government was very corrupt. I was part of the people who lifted my voice to say, ‘Let us stand and bring in democracy.’”

The rapper, known for his strong political voice, admitted that he got it wrong. “As human being, no matter how much you try to be right, you will be wrong sometimes,” he said. “APC unfortunately isn’t the APC of my dreams.”

M.I also said he is now focused on using his music and voice to work with other young people to build a better Nigeria.

His comments come as more Nigerian entertainers speak out about their regrets for backing the APC and President Bola Tinubu.

Nollywood actress Bukky Raji, also known as Aminatu Papapa, recently said she was deeply sorry for campaigning for Tinubu. She said her decision was based on trust and personal interest, but the current hardship facing Nigerians has made her rethink her choice.

Veteran actor Ganiu Nafiu, also called Alapini, said he and many Yoruba actors were neglected after the election, describing the situation as painful. “What they gave us is the hardship we are facing now,” he said.

Another actor, Lalude, said he was paid just N10,000 per day for feeding while campaigning and has received no reward since then. He also shared his regret and said many of his colleagues feel the same way.
