[Video] Yoruba Nation: Secessionists stage rally in Ogun
Supporters of the pro-Yoruba secession group, Odua Republic, took to the streets of Ogun State capital, Abeokuta, on Saturday to declare intentions to break away from Nigeria.
All dressed in white apparel, men and women alike, could be seen on the streets protesting in a video uploaded on Youtube, despite the ban by the police as they marched through the Alake’s palace to other parts of the capital.
“We had spoken with the police. Nobody can stop us from walking freely on our fatherland,” an individual said while addressing the group. “That’s Alake’s palace, we are going there. They all know we are fighting their cause. They know we want to save them from the Fulanis.
“Yorubas can plan a seven-day battle for seven years. What we are doing now is preparation. Just continue repeating that what we want is Yoruba nation.”
