Two Nigerians, Filipino nabbed for N55m love scam
Philippine Police have arrested two Nigerian nationals and their Filipino counterpart for allegedly swindling a 64-year-old woman of 3.23 million pesos (N54,904,179.96) in a love scam.
The Philippine Daily Inquirer reported that the victim (names withheld) claimed that she got into a relationship with 26-year-old Evans Amara Okeke, a self-acclaimed engineer using a fictitious name – Michael Gerard – when they met online.
She told the police that the Nigerian informed her that he planned travelling to the Philippines for a contract to build a mall in La Union but kept citing financial difficulties, prompting the victim to send him money.
Also arrested were Chidibere Junior Ezema, 25, from Nigeria and his Filipino accomplice, Judy Ann Japitana, 23.
