Suspected ritualist nabbed with fresh human head in Oyo
The Oyo State Police Command on Friday paraded a 45-year-old suspected ritualist, Hassan Kolawole, who was apprehended in Ibadan with a fresh human head.
The suspect was presented at the Command Headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, along with nine others arrested for various crimes within the state.
Commissioner of Police Adebola Hamzat, represented by Police Public Relations Officer Adewale Osifeso, disclosed that the arrest occurred on Monday, November 6, 2023. Items seized from Kolawole included a fresh human head, hands, and an HP Laptop.
During an interview with reporters, the suspect admitted to the crime, explaining that he resorted to ritual practices due to financial difficulties.
Kolawole narrated, “I have one wife and two children, and it is very hard for me to take good care of them. I met one Waheed, who is also an Islamic cleric, at a Maolud. We discussed it, and he told me that he knew how to do money rituals that would require the use of human parts.”
He further revealed that Waheed promised to procure the human parts for him and subsequently delivered the fresh human head and two hands.
The suspect claimed to have stored the body parts in his office, where he attended to people seeking spiritual assistance. The police discovered the incriminating items during a search of his office.
Kolawole asserted that Waheed, the person who provided the human parts, is currently at large.
In a related development, the police paraded nine additional suspects for offenses such as murder, kidnapping, cultism, and theft.
Arrests were made at various locations across the state, and items recovered included a Boxer Bajaj motorcycle, an improvised gun, a dual-faced axe, 17 wraps of weed, and 53 wraps of Colorado.
