A former Rivers State secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Emeka Beke, on Saturday emerged chairman of the party.
Beke, the bookmakers favourite going into the polls, is known to be a protege of the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
Daily Post reported that the ex-party secretary polled 1,575 out of the 1,615 lawful votes cast in the state Congress on Saturday.
While announcing the result of the election, chairman of the electoral committee reiterated that Beke met all the requirements.
Speaking shortly after he was declared winner in the congress, Beke thanked all the delegates for taking part in the process.
The Rivers APC chairman-elect promised to bring everybody to work together and ensure that the party wins the 2023 elections.
“Let me thank our team from Abuja and INEC that has been here since morning.
“Let me sincerely from the bottom of my heart thank our leader the Rt honorable Rotimi Amaechi and his team,” he said.
In the same vein, Beke’s opponent in the contest, Chizi Nyeomasila, has accepted the outcome of the exercise and congratulated him.
