Ronaldo overtakes Messi in non-penalty goals
Cristiano Ronaldo eclipsed his long-standing rival Lionel Messi in non-penalty goals during Al-Nassr’s 2-1 triumph over Al-Fateh in the Saudi Pro League.
The Portuguese talisman showcased his scoring prowess by breaking the deadlock just 17 minutes into the game against Al-Fateh.
However, Salem Al Najdi’s equalizer for Al-Fateh after 29 minutes added intrigue to the encounter.
The decisive moment arrived in the 72nd minute when Otavio’s strike secured all three points for the hosts, elevating Al-Nassr’s position in the league standings.
With this victory, Al-Nassr now trails league leaders Al-Hilal by four points, albeit with a game in hand for the latter.
Ronaldo’s goal in the match not only propelled Al-Nassr to victory but also marked a personal milestone as it became his 715th non-penalty goal for both club and country.
This achievement places him one goal ahead of Messi, who currently plies his trade at MLS club Inter Miami, in the ongoing rivalry between the two football icons
