Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has denied making comments attributed to him concerning Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portuguese Football Federation.

According to The PUNCH, Mourinho dismissed reports circulating about his alleged reaction to the growing controversy surrounding Ronaldo and the Portugal national team.

The Portuguese coach said he had made no public comment on the situation.

‘Too much fake news’

“Too much fake news on my comments about Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portuguese Federation,” Mourinho said in a statement shared by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

“I did not make any comment.”

The clarification followed widespread reports linking Mourinho to remarks about Ronaldo’s position within the Portugal squad.

Ronaldo leaves Portugal camp

The controversy intensified after Ronaldo unexpectedly left Portugal’s training camp in Copenhagen ahead of a UEFA Nations League game against Denmark.

The 41-year-old had remained on the bench during Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Norway before missing a subsequent training session.

His departure came amid uncertainty about his role under Portugal coach Jorge Jesus.

Ronaldo has indicated that he intends to explain why he left the national team camp.

Mourinho, however, has now made clear that comments being circulated in his name about the situation did not come from him.
