Reps to resume plenary Tuesday

The House of Representatives will resume its annual recess on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, to continue the first legislative year of the 10th Assembly.

Dr. Yahaha Danzaria, the Clerk of the House, made the announcement in a statement on Saturday.

The 10th Assembly proceeded on its annual recess on July 27, 2023.

Rep. Akin Rotimi, the Spokesperson of the House and House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, said the 10th Assembly had been prolific since its inauguration.

He said that the House had recorded 470 bills, with all passing the first reading, while four passed the second reading. He added that there had been 175 motions considered by the parliament.

Rotimi further noted that some of the key early developments expected on resumption include the conclusion of the work of all ad hoc committees and the submission of their reports for the consideration of the House.

Other development as stated by Rotimi are the receipt and consideration of the final draft of the Legislative Agenda developed by the ad hoc committee, led by the Majority Leader, Rep. Julius Inhonvbere and the announcement and full constitution of the membership of the standing committees.

Rotimi said that the House is committed to delivering on its mandate to the Nigerian people.
