Shehu Sani condemns Abuja Chief Imam’s suspension over Buhari criticism
Political activist and former Kaduna central district Senator, Shehu Sani has reacted to the suspension of an Abuja mosque Imam, Sheikh Nuru Khalid.
WuzupNigeria earlier reported that the Chief Imam of Apo legislative quarters mosque in Abuja was suspended over a scathing sermon that he delivered on Friday.
He was penalised by the mosque’s committee for slamming the administration of the President, Major General Buhari (retd.) over its handling of the escalating insecurity and killings in the country.
Addressing his congregation, the Imam had said, “They [terrorists] can dispatch information…they can dispatch intelligence information as if they’re government of their own, while our government cannot hear intelligence information and stop the rubbish on our ways.
“We can’t afford it…I say it we can’t afford it! We need something better than this and we deserve something better than this. We’re going to pray, but we’ll tell you the truth that corruption is everywhere, that is why we’re seeing this.”
Reacting to his suspension, Sani condemned the development, describing it as unconscionable.
“The suspension of the Imam of Apo Friday Mosque Sheikh Nuru Khalid by the Mosque Steering Committee is unconscionable.
“His criticisms of the Government reflects the views of most Nigerians. He spoke truth to power at the right time. I urge the committee to reverse the decision,” Sani wrote.
