PHOTOS: Travelers, Police AIG stranded as women barricade highway over herdsmen killings
Angry women from Ohorhor community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, on Wednesday, barricaded the East-West road, over Fulani herdsmen killings and invasion of their communities.
According to the pictures shared on the Facebook page of Gbadura Oluwasola, the barricade affected the movement of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 5, Abubakar Mohammed, who was traveling to Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, for an official assignment.
Many travelers and road users were reportedly left stranded on the expressway as the aggrieved women, numbering over 100, besieged and barricaded the road with wood planks, leaves, tires and chairs this morning.
It was reported that commercial and social activities were brought to a halt during the protest as the women lamented the incessant killings, raping and other attacks meted on indigenes by armed Fulani herdsmen.
