No fewer than 56 residents of Gwangwan village in Kano State are reportedly suffering from a mysterious disease that seems to have beaten the skills of doctors in the area.

According to reports, at least one person has died from the disease which symptoms are vomiting and urinating blood.

Vanguard reports that the unexplained ailment has left residents of the village, which is about 136 kilometres away from Kano city, confused and scared.

The disease is believed to have affected six places – Unguwan Rijiyan Dadi, Gwanwan Gabas, Gwangwan Yamma, Unguwar Tsarmai, Gangare, and Unguwar Kofar Fada – within the village.

“We rushed no fewer than 30 people to the Rogo General Hospital since within a day of the outbreak. So far only one person has died as a result of the outbreak. Most of the victims of the disease have complained of spending a lot of money on the disease” Vanguard quoted a source as saying.

Residents affected by the disease said they spent between N20,000 and N100,000 on treatment to no avail.

An unnamed personnel in charge of disease outbreaks at the Ministry of Health in Kano said the ministry received reports of the outbreak but only four people were affected and have since been treated and discharged.
