Olympics: Poland wins gold in 4 x 400m mixed relay
Poland has clinched the gold medal after besting the United States and the Dominican Republic in the inaugural Olympic mixed 4x400m relay at the Tokyo 2020 Games on Saturday.
The Polish quartet of Bacmaga Dominika, Lesiewicz Kornelia, Grzegorzewicz Patryk And Krzewina Jakub started in lane five and ended the race in an Olympic Record of 3:09.87 followed by the Dominican Republic who stole the silver medal (3:10.21) at the death by pipping the US quarter by a second (3:10.22).
Dominican Republic’s Medina Ventura Anabel, Aulino Marileidy And Feliz Lidio Andres kept them in the race but it was OGANDO Alexander who ensured they made the podium as second with his relentless effort.
Netherland’s mixed relay athletes came fourth, followed by Belgium, Great Britain, Jamaica and Ireland while the Germans were disqualified.
