Nnamdi Kanu returns to court in same outfit despite judge’s order

Published

The embattled leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has returned to the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja in the same Fendi outfit he wore about seven months ago during his arrest.

WuzupNigeria reported that Justice Binta Nyako on Monday ordered the Department of State Services to allow Kanu who was rearrested and repatriated to Nigeria in June 2021 to have a change of clothes.

However, the IPOB leader appeared in court on Wednesday wearing the same designer wears.

Kanu who appeared before the court on Tuesday had his terrorism-related charges amended from seven to 15 by the Federal Government on Monday.

During the appearance on Tuesday, Kanu’s lead counsel, Mike Ozekhome (SAN), drew the judge’s attention to his client’s treatment in the custody of the DSS.

In response, the judge said, “I don’t want to see him in these clothes again. This one is almost off-white. Also, make sure that you allow him to exercise,” Nyako had said.
