Apart from AY, see 7 other Nigerians who have broken Guinness World Record

Comedian Ayo Makun, popularly known by his stage name, AY, joined the league of Nigerians who have distinguished themselves by setting or breaking world records.

His first movie as a producer, “30 Days In Atlanta”, directed by Robert Peters, was officially recognised by the 2017 Guinness World Records as one of the films with the highest domestic gross in the territories of Bollywood, Nollywood and Hollywood.

But he is not the first Nigerian on the Guinness World Record list. Here are five other Nigerians who have been on the list.

1. Largest football T-Shirt record by Guinness Nigeria Plc

The largest football shirt measures 73.55 m (241 ft 3 in) wide and 89.67 m (294 ft 2 in) long and was created by Guinness Nigeria Plc (Nigeria) in Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria, on 25 January 2013.

2. Most people crocheting simultaneously record by American University of Nigeria

The most people crocheting simultaneously is 485 and was achieved by American University of Nigeria (Nigeria) in Yola, Nigeria, on 24 April 2015.

3. Most Chattered Accountants in a family by Senator David Omueya’s family

Three sons and two daughters of Senator David Omueya and Cynthia Esella Dafinone of Lagos, Nigeria, all qualified as members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales between 1986 and 1999. Their father had also become a member of the same institution in 1963. Igho Omueya Dafinone, Ede Omueya Dafinone and Duvie Omueya Dafinone are currently working within the firm of D O Dafinone  Co. Chartered Accontants in Lagos. Daphne Omueya Dafinone and Joy Ufuoma Dafinone live in London.

4. Most people washing hands at the same time coordinated by Ecole de Dessin Nigeria

The most people washing their hands is 37,809 at an event organised by Lifebuoy Team and the federal government of Nigeria at TBS Onikan in Lagos, Nigeria on 14 October 2011.

The record was held to encourage children to wash their hands with soap and water to defeat diarrhea. This Record attempt was coordinated by Ecole de Dessin.

5. Largest Ludo board game by Adesoye College Offa

The largest Ludo board game measured 9.65 m (31 ft 7 in) long and 9.65 m (31 ft 7 in) wide. It was created by Adesoye College Offa (Nigeria) and was presented and measured in Offa, Nigeria, on 3 July 2012.

6. Largest group of Carol singers by Godswill Akpabio unity choir (Nigeria)

The largest group of carol singers was 25,272 by Godswill Akpabio unity choir (Nigeria) at the Uyo Township Stadium, Akwa Ibom,Nigeria, on 13 December 2014.

The choir sang a medley of The First Noel, Joy To The World, O Christmas Tree, Hark The Herald Sing, Once In Royal Davids City and O Come All Ye Faithful.

7. Fastest time to run a half marathon on each continent (female) by Omatsola Morgan

Tuedon “Tee” Omatsola Morgan (Nigeria) recently earned a Guinness World Records title for the Fastest time to run a half marathon on each continent and the North Pole (female), completing eight races in 62 days 12 hr 58 min 49 sec.

At 42 years old, Morgan finished (in order) the Carlton Classic Half Marathon (Australia), Abu Dhabi Striders Half Marathon (Asia), Torcy International Half Marathon (Europe), The Carthage Race Half Marathon (Africa), Lincoln’s Birthday Half Marathon (North America), Southern Cross Half Marathon (South America), and Penguin Half Marathon (Antarctica).
