NGO sensitises women on exclusive breast feeding
Centre for Youth Challenge and Initiative Development, a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) in Nasarawa State, has tasked market women to embrace exclusive breast feeding considering its health benefits to their children.
The group’s Executive Director, Mr Yakubu Asso stated this on Monday during an awareness campaign on exclusive breast feeding and nutritional food for children in Shabu, near Lafia.
Asso said that exclusive breast feeding was critical to the growth and development of children, hence the need of the sensitisation campaign.
“The essence of this programme is to educate you on the need to embrace exclusive breast feeding considering its benefit to children.
“You are to breast feed your child exclusively for six month after birth as this will help the child to grow mentally and physically thereby making them healthy, ” he said.
Asso also disclosed that the organisation had trained women on the use of Soybeans to prepare healthy local delicacy that would facilitate the growth of children.
He advised women, especially mothers to imbibe the culture of eating balanced diet, given it’s importance to both the mother and the baby.
He said the organisation was to initiate good health policies and programmes that would have direct bearing on the lives of Nigerians.
