Naira Marley: Nigerians rebuke Daddy Showkey for comparing fraudsters to politicians [Videos]

Published

It’s been 11 days since fast-rising singer Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, got arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for alleged fraud and money laundering.

His arrest has continued to generate mixed reactions from celebrities, social media commentators, social media pundits and well-meaning Nigerians.

Celebrities like Daddy Showkey, Olamide, Davido and a few others opined that Naira Marley should be released for his fraudulent crimes.

In an Instagram post by Daddy Showkey who also “advocates” for justice and fairness, he accused the government and the anti-graft agency of being too high handed with his younger colleague.

The ace singer who spoke in pidgin wondered why the government failed to “manhandle” corrupt lawmakers, politicians, civil servants whenever they loot the government treasury.

He further said that Marley is just a small boy adding that his nefarious activities should be dismissed.

“Eye wey cry ? dey see road O na weytin this boy do self wey we never see before, na him kill people will Bomb ? na him thief nigeria money yeye dey Smell, he said.

However, his statement has angered some IG users who said that Daddy Showkey is a bad role model who operates a double standard

Many also pointed out that the suspect in question had been arrested 124 times in England for fraud and had boasted of being a yahoo boy.

Some also used derogatory words to describe Daddy Showkey and wished that he falls a victim of fraudsters.

Recall that Marley was arrested alongside rapper Zlatan Ibile, Rahman Jago, Guccy Branch and one other.

See some comments and Showkey’s video:

And if you notice him say him no do am #NotGuity so no for EFCC to prove say him do or make him prove him innocence. Like them talk the law no ge respect for anyone show evidence or prove your innocence and you go get justice. E fit delay but he go come. ❤️

@opeyemiaia: In shaa Allah, many hackers/cybercrimer will hack your account and ruin your financial status and all of your generations. Say Amen.

@iyangbethankgod: @ daddyshowkey I do not understand you .it seem you are instigating people to be fraudulent. If you are supporting fraud I have lost respect from you..the must painful part all those people who are celebrating his fraudulent act before no one even show love at court only his mum. I pray he should found no guity.if he found he she go for it. Plenty bads eggs in the society need to remove no apologies .pls stop celebrating fraud Mr showkey

@_leye9: @daddyshowkey baba am confused with this your words sir… Does he ‘Marley’ looks like who’s is suffering just like the rest of the streets kids in Ajegunle,Okoko, ajangbadi, mushin etc.

Does he look like someone who doesn’t know right from the left?

Does he look poor?

Is he an underage teenager?

Yes!those who steal from Nigeria none of them are being prosecuted, we all know.

Does that imply we all should be just like those who steal from Nigeria?

Are you telling us we should give all criminals and murderers second chances eg like Evans, just because they made mistakes at first?

So if he’s found guilty, he should be free right?

Coming from the streets even with no food to eat doesn’t make you a criminal but it strengthens for struggles ahead.

I also grew up from Ajegunle sir. I no steal or do fraud. I still dey hustle till now.

We all know it’s not easy!

@okidoki1975: In every society, they usually weigh the impact of a conviction. Which would be better. Go through with the trial and jail him, or use him as the face of the campaign against fraud. The unfortunate thing is, the boy barely shows, any sign of being repentant. Throwing gang signs, and mouthing of to the camera doesn’t present the character appropriate, for someone that can be worked with. Their are Nigerians that have been jailed here in the US, that their sentences have actually been reduced, as far as they showed the FBI how they committed the fraud in question, so as to prevent future crimes. However, you need the right individual, and lawyer.
I pray the young man develops sense, good advisers, and stops getting it from social media. I actually rocked his music, so wish him well.

@adesanyaeric: Absolute nonsense, with all due respect sir, is this how you beg for criminals to be free? Let me remind you sir, this so call guy said he has been arrested 124 times in the UK… we have constitution here

@jahmalusen: I pray someone scams you of your hard earned money so you’d stop justifying this FRAUD thing, Sir.

@yeancahbabe: You have no point here sir. What if you were the one he duped, will you be saying all these? Please, let’s stop glorifying all these people. We have a lot of young people arrested by EFCC too, should they also pardon them? Why must it be Naira Marley alone? Oh! Because he’s a celebrity? He doesn’t have two heads, so allow the law to take its course over him.

@realomobee: You call Naira Marley who boasted that he has been arrested 124 times in England, a small boy: “Lemme tell you, you don’t know me, I have been arrested 124 times in England and I am not doing any other type of music, No slow songs, no love songs, just gang music.” he said

However, one @emekaemerald said “My understanding of this video I don’t think he is supporting wrongs but saying if the nation is to be rebranded the whole thing should apply to all. My own understanding oo anyone can see it differently it’s all about opinions. Let’s all do right home and abroad if not for anybody for yourself it will surely speak one day.
