Man, 44, rapes six-year-old girl in Ogun
A 44-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly having unlawful carnal knowledge of a six-year-old girl (name withheld) in Aferiku village, Idiroko area of the Yewa South Local Government Area, Ogun State.
Rafiu Moruf was arrested by officers of the Ogun State Police Command on 11 February 2019 after a complaint by the victim’s mother, Mrs Ranti Owonifaari, a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said on Wednesday.
The PPRO said the victim’s mother reported to the police that she noticed unusual behaviour in her daughter, which prompted her to closely examine the girl.
Oyeyemi said,
“She stated further that on close examination, she noticed semen in her daughter’s private parts and upon questioning the girl, she revealed how the suspect took her into his room and had carnal knowledge of her.
“Upon the report, the DPO, Idiroko Police Station, CSP Amodu Aloko, led detectives to the suspect’s house, where he was promptly arrested. On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime.
“The victim has been taken to the hospital for medical treatment and issuance of a report.
“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for proper investigation and prosecution.”
