I wish to lay on mattress before I die – Blind woman who lost her sight after childbirth says
A visually impaired elderly woman whose children left her in the village to seek greener pastures wishes to sleep on a mattress before she dies has had her wish granted.
Yaya Kwanjit from Sanbona in the North-east region of Ghana who does not know her age revealed in a Joy News documentary that she lost her sight after giving birth to her second son.
To worsen her plight, she subsequently lost her husband too.
She currently depends on the benevolence of neighbours in the village for survival as both her two children have left for greener pastures in Accra.
According to her, one of her sons visits her occasionally but the other one has never visited since he left.
She sleeps on the floor and wishes to have the luxury of sleeping on a mattress before she dies.
