American rapper Nicki Minaj sent her fans into a meltdown on Thursday evening after announcing she is retiring from music to have a family.

The rapper, 36, took to Twitter on Thursday evening to break the news to her fans.

She tweeted:

“I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me.

“In the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me. Love you for LIFE.”

The news seems to have left her fans devastated as they have taken to Twitter to lament the rapper’s plan to quit music.

Some wondered who among the present female rappers is fit to fill the vacuum she is leaving.

Another fan tweeted:

Nicki Minaj starting a family doesn’t come as a surprise. In the past, she’s been transparent about her planned timeline of releasing 5 albums before having a baby.
The retirement does come as a surprise though because she once said she was contractually obligated to do 6 albums
