Hellish Nigeria: Oby Ezekwesili, Buhari’s aide, others defend Omotola as Buharists attempt to slut-shame her
More Nigerians have risen in defence of veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jolade-Ekeinde as supporters of President Muhamadu Buhari attempt to slut-shame her for criticising the government.
Former Minister and Presidential candidate Oby Ezekwesili, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to President Buhari on Social Investment Programmes, Ismaeel Ahmed among many other prominent Nigerians took to Twitter yesterday to condemn ‘Buharists’ over their attacks on the actress.
WuzupNaija reports that the actress had taken to Twitter on Sunday evening to criticise the government of President Muhammadu Buhari and his vice Yemi Osinbajo, saying Nigeria has become ‘hellish’ under their watch.
Omotola’s criticism of the government which was prompted by recurring incidents of police illegal killings of innocent Nigerians has evoked a lot of attacks on her personality from ‘Buharists’ on social media.
Some of the ‘Buharists‘ in their attacks against Omotola had insinuated that she was promiscuous.
In her reaction to the slut-shaming comment by ‘Buharists’, Ezekwesili wrote,
“It is the degree of damage that hideous partisan politics of the worst variant has done to some of our “youths”. Was it also not here that
@segalink when attacking us years ago because of@BBOG_Nigeria hurled similar trash at me who was prevailed on to go into government?#Sick”
Ismaeel Ahmed while condemning one of the Buharists also wrote
“But Akin what is the truth there? That she has “customers”? What kind of customers? Can’t you just disagree with her on the issues and leave it at that? Why would you say such things about a married woman and a mother? Please learn to use tact in ur responses.”
A Nigerian post-graduate student at the London School of Economics, Gimba Kakanda also wrote,
“Omotola worked hard to help build an industry in a country that offers the young no opportunity. She sells Nigeria as a brand in a world that’s given us a bad name. Today, for criticizing Buhari, a rabid Buharist
@cbngov_akin1 attributed her success to prostituting with Senators.“When you see women going berserk about their treatment, you have to understand it’s because of this legion of misogynistic idiots stationed to frustrate and rubbish their accomplishments this way.”

Distinguished, you are dealing with sub-literates here seeking to pull you to their level of ignominy. Do they even know what is meant by the Economy beyond their identity politics of hate, religious bigotry and idolatry? Kindly avoid engaging emasculated sociopaths. #SpeakOut https://t.co/JiNDo64NeD

If @Realomosexy was one of those artists depending on Govt patronage, she can never speak up. Those who depend on government for their source of income or business cannot speak the truth in today’s Nigeria.
Neither can those afraid of going to jail. Full blown tyranny.

When a man challenges authority, no one accuses him of sleeping around, even if that’s his secondary trade. When a woman challenges authority, she is accused of sleeping around, irrespective of her status or the advocacy she professes. Patriarchy’s last line of defense.
