Unemployed charged with defiling six-year-old
An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday ordered the remand of one unemployed 19-year-old Chidera Ohiwi, who allegedly inserted his finger into a child’s private part.
The court did not take Ohiwi’s plea, as the Magistrate, Mrs Ejiro Kubeinje, said she needed the advice of the state’s director of public prosecutions.
Kubeinje ordered that the defendant should be kept at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending the advice.
She adjourned the case until Nov. 25 for mention.
The defendant, who resides in Ikeja, was charged with defiling a six-year-old girl.
According to the prosecutor, ASP Adebisi Ogunleye, the defendant committed the offence on Sept. 18 at his residence.
“The defendant called the girl into his room on the pretext of sending her on an errand.
“He inserted his finger into her sex organ and released her to go after he satisfied himself.
“When the girl’s mother noticed that her daughter was not walking properly, she asked her questions.
“The minor told her mother what the defendant did to her,’’ the prosecutor said.
The alleged offence violates the provisions of Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Newsmen reports that the section provides for life imprisonment for defilement.
