Eti Osa, Mainland, Ikeja, most vaccinated LGAs in Lagos - Commissioner

The Lagos Government on Wednesday identified Eti Osa, Lagos Mainland, Ikeja and three other areas as the six councils that benefited more from the recently concluded AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccination.

It also revealed the other three as Kosofe, Alimosho and Surulere Local Governments.

This was released in a statement issued by the Commissioner of Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi through Director of Public Affairs at the state health ministry, Tunbosun Ogunbanwo.

This is just as Abayomi stated that the state vaccinated more females than their male counterpart during the COVID-19 vaccination exercise which kicked off on March 12.

According to the released COVID-19 situation analysis, Eti-Osa emerged the council with the largest contingents with 28,257 residents vaccinated so far.

This is closely followed by Lagos Mainland with 25,094 persons.

“In Ikeja LGA, we vaccinated 23,194 persons; in Kosofe LGA, 19,398 people received the COVID vaccine.

“For Alimosho and Surulere, 18,954 and 14,963 persons were vaccinated. Apapa, Amuwo-Odofin, Badagry, Epe, and Ibeju-Lekki local governments have the least number of citizens vaccinated, with less than 8,000 persons vaccinated for each,” the statement read.

The commissioner also disclosed that just a few of the 257,756 persons administered with the first dose experienced adverse events which are characterised by pain at the injection site, fever or body pains lasting 24 to 48 hours and anaphylactic shock.
