Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham, has come under heavy fire for receiving an award from the Babajide Sanwo-Olu led Government of Lagos State.

The recognition comes one week after the brand influencer questioned the Lagos Government on the absence of closed-circuit television on a modern commercial shuttle like the State-owned Bus Rapid Transit.

Toyin further cried that the tragic death of 22-year-old Bamise Ayanwola who was found dead on Carter Bridge with her private parts missing, called for concerns.

The actress, however, claimed that the award was an honour to commemmorate the 2022 International Women’s Day.

The mother of one on Wednesday posted the award in an Instagram post where she thanked the governor for the recognition.

“Thank you sir for your excellency @jidesanwoolu and @lagosstategovt thanks for the recognition. Eshey Modupe Eko o ni baje,” she said.

The post generated instant criticism from her followers who stormed her comment section, claiming that she has been bought and will avoid speaking against the ills of Sanwo-Olu administration.

@youlatonaprincess said, “Hmmmm, u have been indirectly bought. I hope this our so called celebrities can open their eyes to see it. It will be hard to speak up henceforth.”

“I am disappointed sha, the other day you dey tackle them for Bamise case dem don use award buy you. Nonsense all of una na rubbish,” @Miriam_98 stated.
