The Ikole Local Government Council of Ekiti has appealed to residents to always maintain a high level of hygiene to curb the spread of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases.
Mr Sola Olominu, the Chairman of the council, made the appeal during the monthly sanitation exercise on Saturday in Ikole-Ekiti.
He said that his administration had been working hard to ensure that the welfare and health of the people were given utmost priority.
“I want to appeal to every resident of Ikole Local Lovernment Area to always maintain regular hygiene.
“It is has become very important for us to curb the spread of the deadly virus called COVID-19 in our communities in order to save the lives of both young and old ones.
“Wastes should be taken to the appropriate dump site and not dumped in the drains or on the roadsides.
“This is very important so as to prevent people from contracting diseases such as cholera, malaria and other infectious diseases from wastes.
“I want to appeal to our traditional rulers and parents to always educate our people, children and youths on the benefits of proper hygiene,” he said
