Football legend Didier Drogba congratulates Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala for their outstanding achievements at the CAF Awards 2023.

Osimhen secured the title of CAF Men’s Player of the Year for 2023, marking the first time in 24 years that a Nigerian has clinched this prestigious accolade.

Notably, the last Nigerian to achieve this feat was Nwankwo Kanu in 1999, with Vincent Enyeama and John Mikel Obi coming close in subsequent years.

On the women’s front, Barcelona Femeni star Asisat Oshoala made history by winning her sixth women’s award, further solidifying her status as a football icon.

Didier Drogba took to social media to express his joy and celebrate the duo, addressing them as the “new King and Queen of Africa.”

He extended his congratulations to the Nigerian players and the nation, eagerly anticipating their presence at the upcoming AFCON 2023 in January.

Drogba’s message read, “Long live the new King and Queen of Africa @victorosimhen9 @asisat_oshoala @caf_online. Congratulations, my Nigerian People, we are waiting for you in January @afcon_2023.”
