Dangote targets broader ownership

Aliko Dangote said the listing was intended to extend ownership of the refinery beyond the company. In addition, it will give ordinary investors an opportunity to benefit from its growth. The Dangote refinery IPO also aims to democratise investment opportunities within the energy sector.

“This offering is about more than raising capital,” Dangote said.

He described the IPO as an opportunity for Nigerians, Africans and international investors to participate directly in the refinery. The Dangote refinery IPO has thus attracted attention from a range of global investors.

Funds raised through the offer are expected to support expansion, strategic investments and other long-term growth plans.

NGX prepares for major listing

Nigerian Exchange Group chief executive Temi Popoola described the offer as an important development for the Nigerian capital market.

Investors will be able to subscribe through approved channels including NGX Invest, commercial banks, stockbrokers and authorised digital platforms.

The refinery has grown into one of Nigeria’s biggest industrial investments. In addition, it supplies refined petroleum products to both domestic and international markets.

The N2.15tn offer is expected to rank among the largest equity offerings undertaken on the African continent.
