Court remands man, 20, for alleged theft of N1.3m
Chief Magistrate Patrick Adekomaiya of a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday remanded a 20-year-old man, Daniel Divine, in a correctional centre for allegedly stealing the sum of N1,368,300 belonging to one Ogbonna Nneji.
The magistrate ordered his remand following his arraignment on a count bordering on stealing, and he pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him.
The prosecution counsel, ASP. Akpan Nko, told the court that the defendant and others, still at large, committed the offence on December 22, 2021, at 3.00 p.m, at No. 261, Ojo-Igbede Road, Ajangbadi, Ojo area of Lagos.
Nko said the defendant allegedly stole N1,368,300, property of one Nneji Ogbonna, the complainant.
The Chief Magistrate, however, ordered that the defendant be remanded in Badagry correctional centre and adjourned the case until March 23, for commencement of trial.
