Cleaner in court for theft of employer’s laptop
The Police on Wednesday arraigned a cleaner, Luke John, in a Karmo Upper Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing his employer’s laptop.
John, who resides at Angwan Shehu, Karmo, was charged with theft.
The prosecutor, Ijeoma Ukagha, told the court that one Tasil Chineweike, of Utako Abuja, reported the matter at the Utako Police Station on March 7.
Ukagha said the defendant works as a cleaner in the complainant’s office.
He alleged that on Nov. 27, the cleaner stole his employer’s laptop, valued at N50, 000, that was kept in the office.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 288 of the Penal Code.
The cleaner denied committing the offence, while the judge, Alhaji Inuwa Maiwada, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N60, 000 with one surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned until April 15, for further hearing.
