Champions League: PSG’s Florenzi contracts COVID-19, to miss Bayern clash
Paris Saint-Germain would be without Alessandro Florenzi for the 1st-leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash against Bayern Munich.
The Parisian club on Monday confirmed that the Italian defender tested positive for COVID-19 after a PCV test was conducted.
A statement on PSG’s verified Twitter handle read, “Following the latest PCR Sars-Cov2 test, Alessandro Florenzi is confirmed positive.
“He will therefore enter isolation and is subject to the appropriate health protocol.”
Mauricio Pochettino would also be without Florenzi’s compatriots, midfielder Marco Verratti, who previously tested positive for the disease.
Both players will miss crucial match, against Bayern Munich in Germany on Wednesday.
The tie is a rematch of last season’s final, which ended 1-0 in favour of the Bavarians.
