Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany is recovering after collapsing during a training session last week, although the club has yet to confirm when he will resume his duties.

According to ESPN, assistant coach Aaron Danks provided an update on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, ahead of Bayern’s German Cup encounter against Magdeburg.

Kompany was reportedly taken to hospital on Friday after collapsing during a reserve-team training session.

The Belgian manager had been battling a viral illness and missed several training sessions before the incident.

The assistant coach disclosed that he visited Kompany on Monday and found him in good spirits.

“He is in good spirits. It looks like every day he is getting better,” Danks told reporters.

However, he explained that the club had not received a significant medical update concerning the manager’s return.

“Let him rest, let him take his time,” he added.

Danks said his meeting with Kompany was informal, with both men avoiding discussions about football tactics.

The assistant coach maintained that the club would give Kompany sufficient time to recover before returning to work.

Bayern face a demanding schedule, beginning with Wednesday’s German Cup second-round match against Magdeburg.

The German champions will subsequently face Borussia Dortmund in a Bundesliga encounter on Saturday.

They are also scheduled to travel to Spain next week for a Champions League match against Atletico Madrid.

Danks acknowledged that the past week had brought contrasting emotions for the squad.

Kompany’s medical emergency occurred shortly before striker Harry Kane won the 2026 Ballon d’Or.

Kane became the first English footballer in 25 years to claim the prestigious individual honour.

Despite the contrasting developments, Danks praised the team’s unity and professional response.

Bayern will continue preparing for their upcoming fixtures while awaiting further updates on Kompany’s recovery.
