Burna Boy unveils ’23’ official video
Fresh off his Grammy Award win, Nigerian singer-songwriter, Burna Boy, has released the official video of his song ’23’ to celebrate his international success.
Giving them ‘woro si woro’, the ‘African Giant’ is certainly not hugging his Grammy Award too much and might be gunning for another Grammy category with the visuals which was announced on Tuesday evening via his verified Twitter handle.
Burna celebrated women’s achievements in sports and music by showcasing a female baketeballer as the star of the video.
Twenty-three is the tenth track of his 2020 album “Twice As Tall ” with his mother, Bose Ogulu, and famed US rapper and Bad Boy Records boss, Diddy serving as executive producers alongside Burna.
Having lost the Best Global Music Album category in 2019 to the iconic Angélique Kidjo, Burna came back with a bang in 2020, dusting his competitors to win the coveted award.
The 15-track album did not only win the award but put his name on the African map as one of the very best Afro Jamz giants on the continent.
“The music make me feel I be Jordan,” Burna echoed in ’23’, and the female Jordan (vixen) in the video won him the hearts of many who have cheered on via Twitter, as some call him ‘The Michael Jordan of Afrobeats.’
Reacting on Twitter, @IamOkon said, “Burna Boy choose the perfect song + video to celebrate his Grammy victory. #23Video is quite classy; he managed to sneak his winning speech into it too . Lovely.
Another user, @Abbye_ak said, “Grammy Award Winning Burna Boy. I really love these Scenes mehn. How Burna chose to use Female Basket ballers instead of male is so appealing . Our Aforbeats Jordan”
“Burna celebrating women in sports is exactly why he’s my goat. Always intentional,” said @garrick_steph.
