Three local fish sellers and their wares were reportedly crushed after a building collapsed on them while hiding from task force officials in Ondo State.
New Telegraph reported that the traders took refuge in the building to hide from task force officials when the incident happened.
The task force was said to be made up of officials from the Ondo state chapter of the Fish Sellers Association of Nigeria chasing after traders who owe membership dues.
The incident, which occurred at the popular Arakale market in Akure, the state capital, led to protest among some of the fish sellers.
Reports had it that one of the victims, Dorcas Ajayi, fled to the building with her wares to prevent it from getting confiscated over unpaid due of N1000.
Speaking on the development, the husband of the deceased simply identified himself as Ajayi confirmed that his wife took refuge in the building to evade the officials before the incident occurred.
Ajayi recalled that he was working on his farm when he received a message that something terrible had happened to his wife.
