Borno gov lift 24-hours curfew
The Borno State Government has lifted the 24-hour curfew imposed on resident of Maiduguri metropolis and it’s environs.
Recall that the Thursday nationwide protests which later went violent, leading to the killing of some persons, destruction of property, especially public infrastructures led to the curfew declaration.
According to the Vanguard, Governor Babagana Zulum during a live broadcast on Saturday, said: “In view of the relative calm, government in consultation with security agencies has lifted the 24-hour curfew today.
” This is to allow residents to come out by 6am to start their normal business activities in an orderly manner.
“It is unfortunate that some hoodlums hijacked the protest thereby causing havoc to lives and property which is unacceptable.
” As the curfew is now lifted, Government will not hesitate to deal ruthlessly with anyone who break down law and order in the name of protest”.
