Former President of the United States, Barack Obama, has uploaded a list of his favourites books for the year 2020.

Obama shared the list to his 34.1 million followers on his verified Instagram account on Thursday.

Coming after the release of his new book, A Promised Land, Obama shared other books he would love his followers to read, asides from his recently published work.

“As 2020 comes to a close, I wanted to share my annual lists of favourites. I’ll start by sharing my favourite books this year, deliberately omitting what I think is a pretty good book – A Promised Land – by a certain 44th president. I hope you enjoy reading these as much as I did,” he said.

Obama’s favourite book list contains works from 17 different authors, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Isabel Wilkerson’s epic Caste: The Origins of Our Discontent.

The books on Barack’s bedside table this year have spanned fiction, memoir, history and politics, Vogue reports.
