Armed robbers disposses man of N1m, shot him at the stomach
In a daylight robbery, four armed men Thursday, at the city centre, opposite NUJ press centre, Umuahia dispossessed a man of his N1 million cash.
Following a little resistance from the man who was in a tricycle (keke), the armed men operating in an SUV vehicle, shot him at the stomach and drove away with the money, even as people scampered for safety.
The victim, who could not be immediately identified was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia for treatment.
Speaking from his hospital bed, the victim, who identified himself as Basil said he is a palm oil produce dealer and had just withdrawn the N1 million from a bank before the incident.
According to him, the money was for the payment of people he bought palm oil from.
All efforts to get any reaction from the state Police/Public Relations Offer, Geoffrey Ogbonna proved abortive as all calls put across to him was not answered.
