Published

Gospel artists, Nathaniel Bassey and Wale Adenuga have condemned Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, for rewarding BBNaija winner, Laycon with a house and cash.

In addition to the N80 million cash prize for winning the BBNaija lockdown edition, the governorGov. Abiodun appointed Laycon a youth ambassador of the state, which came with N5million naira cash reward and a house.

Reacting on Twitter, Adenuga expressed shock and sadness at the decision.

He tweeted, “I’m disheartened by the Governor of Ogun state making the winner of #bbnaija an ambassador of the state, rewarding him further with cash and a house.

According to the musician, the move further asserts the notion that Nigeria values for hard work no longer exist.

He said,” No thanks to you sir for further entrenching the sad narrative that we are a nation that rewards trivialities & mediocrity. #sad”

Backing up Adenuga’s stance, Nathaniel Bassey gave clarification on Adenuga’s usage of the term ‘dog’ to condemn the move by stating that it’s is figurative.

God bless you pastor Wale for posting this. Many are twisting this already. I believe pastor Wale is highlighting the idea of this and not necessarily about the person involved.

I would personally frown at @wale.adenuga calling a human being a dog. And in fact, will call him to edit it. But in this case, that was a figure of speech. Not referring to the young man. It’s more about the idea.”
