Akpabio behind my ordeal – Senator Abbo

Published

Senator Elisha Abbo has claimed that his removal from office was a result of power play, asserting that four additional senators are also being targeted for removal due to their lack of support for Godswill Akpabio’s bid for the Senate presidency

Abbo, who represented Adamawa North, spoke to journalists at his Abuja home, on Monday after the court declared Amos Yohanna of the Peoples Democratic Party as the winner of the February election.

He said he had reliable information that Orji Uzor Kalu was among the five senators who would be ousted for opposing Akpabio.

“At my level, I can’t afford to be flippant and I don’t speculate. At my level, I cannot speculate. What I am telling you is authentic,” he said.

“A very highly placed Nigerian citizen told me that five of us were slated for removal. I would be going and Orji Uzor Kalu would follow me and we would all go. That is a fact.”

He described the court’s judgment as a threat to democracy and urged his supporters to remain calm.

“This is a coup on democracy,” he added

Senator Abbo insisted that he won the election fair and square, with a margin of 11,000 votes over his PDP rival.
