Published

Coach of FC Robo, Emmanuel Osahan, has confirmed that the club’s missing driver had been found following an attack on the team by gunmen along the Ijebu-Ode/Ore Expressway on Wednesday.

Players and officials of the club were left stranded in Ijebu-Ode after the gunmen took the driver away, while on their way for an NWFL clash against Delta Queens.

Narrating their ordeal to The PUNCH, the head coach said the driver panicked and jumped out of the vehicle while armed men were shooting in the air.

He said, “We thank God that the players are fine, the armed robbers only went away with their phones, kits and some other valuable items. We have also found the driver that was kidnapped yesterday (Tuesday). We went back to the scene of the incident and looked around the bush; that was where we found him. He only sustained a small injury on his face.

“The men mounted roadblocks and about 10 of them came out of the bush fully armed, then they started shooting into the air. That was why our driver jumped out of the vehicle before he was taken away. We were not the only ones attacked as there were other vehicles there. We were even able to rescue other victims in the bush while looking for our driver.”
