Abba Kyari: NDLEA slams eight charges on embattled DCP, six others

Published

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on Thursday filed eight charges against the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari.

According to The PUNCH, the agency filed the charges on Kyari and six others over their involvement in alleged drug trafficking before a Federal High Court in Abuja.

This comes hours after the Federal Government approved the request for his extradition to the United State of America where he was indicted in a $1.1m wire fraud committed by Abass Ramon commonly known as ‘Hushpuppi’ against a Qatari School Founder by the US Attorney’s Office in the Central District of California in 2021.

Recall that the NDLEA said that it “believes strongly that DCP Kyari is a member of a drug cartel that operates the Brazil-Ethiopia-Nigeria illicit drug pipeline.”

After declaring him wanted on February 14, 2022, Kyari was arrested by the Nigeria Police Force and subsequently handed over to the NDLEA, according to the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi.
